It's best to spot clean all cloth hats with a damp cloth using cold water, or hand-wash in a sink if necessary. We recommend using plant-based soaps because regular detergents can be toxic for our waterways.
Always let your hat dry naturally. If your hat gets out of shape, you can use steam from a tea kettle to reshape it. Hold the hat in the steam and allow it to soften. You can then reshape your hat to its original shape and then let it cool down before wearing.
Another option to take out wrinkles on the brim is to place a clean rag or old T-shirt over the wrinkled area then iron the area.
Nice hat, with a good balance of structure and foldability. My one quibble is that I don't like how the string (chin attachment) fits through the hat. Because it's double threaded through the hat, the string either sits on top of your head within the hat, or you have to kind of pull it so that it sits behind your head. This is great for very windy conditions, where the string behind your head and below your chin will definitely ensure that the hat ain't goin' nowhere, but otherwise it ends up being finicky to place in a comfortable manner and I found that I often had to adjust the string and clasp so that it was centered under my chin. I'm thinking of cutting the string and just tying knots at each end so that there's just a single pass through the hat rather than two.
If you haven't already, why not just pass the string through one set of hole on either side? That way the loop end of the string isn't sitting on the inside but sitting outside around the crown/top of the brim.
Well-made, plenty of sun protection, and looks a bit Indiana Jones while staying practical for kayaking and hiking and farm projects. Only a few weeks in but I can tell I'll be wearing this hat for a long time to come.
Glad the hat is getting in some adventure time with you. If you want to maintain the waterproofing on the hat, look up on our website the NikWax waterproofing spray. Enjoy and stay sun safe this summer!
I spend a lot of time kayak fishing on both lakes and rivers and it can get windy. This hat is well designed to comfortably remain in place but if a tree limb removes it for you, it floats. This is the custom made hat for me no doubt with unmatched quality. I had to return the first one as it was too small....... my new replacement hat arrived four days later! Also, I recently found out from my eye Dr. that most of the world's cataracts are caused by UV exposure. He strongly recommended this type of hat always be worn while outside. Conner Hats, good for your eyes too, who knew?
Glad that the eye doctor even gave his approval for it. Be sure to look up our hat care page to maintain the longevity of the hat. Enjoy!
Always wanted something like this. A buddy bought something similar from Connorhats and he was happy with his, so I tried it. Mine fits great and I’m happy I found it. Quality hat and was delivered just a few days after I ordered. Thank you!
Glad we could get you a hat that ticked those boxes for you. Be sure to look at some of our hat care tips to maintain it's longevity: https://connerhats.com/pages/hat-care
I'm a conservation scientist and i can't wait til I'm free to head out into the field again wearing this hat.....I just know its going to be fantastic. I ordered a small and its ever so slightly too tight....is there a way to loosen?
You can always try to stretch it. Place it on the bend of your knee, put your hands inside the crown and pull it up to you.
If this doesn't work, email email@example.com and the team should help you through the return process and explain how to get a new hat one size up.
