If your hat is stained, a leather dressing can be applied to the outside of the hat. The leather dressing will darken the hat, mask the stain, and make the hat more waterproof. If you're just removing a small mark on the hat, sometimes rubbing the area firmly with your thumb can erase the mark. Also, you can try chalk that is a similar colour to the hat. This can soak up an oil mark. Afterwards, rub the chalk off the hat.
I had already purchased a brown bac pac traveler and love it. So when I heard Bill Conner was retiring, I just had to get another in black. Thank you Bill and Will, I love both hats very much.
I received my hat (Bac Pac Traveler Oily Australian Leather) in a crushed box, not packaged very well. The hat seems to have permanent creases that won’t come out because it was crushed for so long. I have be wearing the hat every day for almost a week and it still looks the same. I know this hat is crushable but the creases should not be permanent. Disappointing to say the least after paying top dollar for this hat. Sizes also run on the small side. I measured my size according to the guide and ordered that size, hat was way too small. Sent back and exchanged for next size up and still is a little tight. Hoping it will stretch a little since it is made of leather but I’m starting to doubt it will.
That's unfortunate that the carrier did not handle the packaging with care. We've received lots of excellent feedback on our packaging but I guess packaging is only as good as the carrier who handles it with care. Not to worry, you can still return the hat for a replacement. Simply go through the returns process in the link below and shoot us an email email@example.com when you've done so. This is so we can keep an eye out for the hat and do the exchange.

With regards to stretching the hat, you can place it on your bended knee and pull the hat up towards you. Here's a video on how to do that. https://youtu.be/sEMaFBJ_FF4
Very disappointed. This was the hat I initially wanted, but was only available in Medium and not large. So i settled on the Kangaroo crossing Hat in large only to discover it was too big, and the adhesive strips that were sent to help reduce the size, would not stick to the hat and made it look cheap. So i kept the hat and ordered the the BC Hats Bac Pac Traveler Oily Australian Leather Hat in medium. Well this one is too small. It was suggested I try and stretch the hat, but I will not risk damaging or ruining the shape of the hat, especially for what I paid for it. Because I live in Canada, I cannot return the hat without paying for the shipping costs both ways. So much for 100% return policy if not completely satisfied. I will definitely not be trying a third time!
I bought for my husband because he wears XXL. The hat fits well but we’re a little disappointed in the quality. There are ripples in the brim.
First thing I noticed is how far the tabs that hold the hat band stick out. This hat has ears!
There's no way to flatten them down and they overpower the hat band and even the whole look of the had.
I will probably cut them off.
Secondly the hat has weird proportions: crown too tall compared to brim, has sort of a vagabond meets wicked witch of the east look. Even with my coolest riding leather it brings the look down.
Thirdly the fit: feels like a small patch of leather laying on my head.
This had has achieved the impossible by feeling both tight and unstructured at the same time.
Hey for a hundred bucks, and given this is a good company overall, I'm keeping the hat.
It may also be that it's just the wrong hat from Connor for me.
I do have plenty of hats, from highly structured cowboy hats, to waterproof crushable Aussie type hats. This one will probably fade into anonymity in my collection.
As for the reviewer who talked about what a cool had it is after riding, for me it's back to the drawing board.
